Belvedere is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the northeastern corner of Aiken County, situated along the US-1 North corridor approximately six to eight miles northeast of downtown Aiken and roughly equidistant between Aiken city and North Augusta. The community is bounded loosely by Belvedere Clearwater Road and the commercial strips of US-1. The ZIP code 29841 is shared with North Augusta, reflecting the overlapping geography of the CDP and the adjacent city. Access to I-20 is at the Exit 5 interchange near the SC-GA border, approximately eight to ten minutes north, making Belvedere one of the better-positioned communities in Aiken County for Augusta, GA commuters — especially those working at SRS (accessed via US-278 and SRS Gate 1).

Belvedere is a no-frills postwar community — the kind of neighborhood where a blue-collar or working-professional household can own a three-bedroom ranch on a lot of a quarter-acre for well under $200,000. History
Belvedere developed primarily as a bedroom community for the wave of SRS workers who arrived in Aiken County beginning in 1950-1952 during site construction and early operations. Its location along the US-1 corridor, which served as the primary commute route to SRS Gate 1, made it a logical residential concentration point for workers who needed affordable housing and reasonable commute times.
