AIKEN, S.C. — A gallery of decorated holiday trees returns to downtown Aiken next month. The city’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department will open the 2026 Festival of Trees with a tree lighting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
The display fills the Center for African American History, Art and Culture, 120 York St. NE. This year’s theme is A Legacy of Lights, and local businesses decorated their trees to pay tribute to someone or something that lit the way for others.
The trees stay up through Saturday, Jan. 2. Visitors can stop by Wednesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome, though children must come with an adult.
Guests can also vote for a favorite tree in a People’s Choice Award. The city plans to name first-, second- and third-place winners on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
Questions about the festival go to the center’s staff, and updates will be posted on the city parks department and Visit Aiken social media accounts.
