The 20th Solheim Cup begins Thursday at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, with Team Europe defending on home soil against a United States side that arrives in the Dutch dunes carrying the current cup.
The match runs Sept. 11 through Sept. 13 at Bernardus, set at 6,557 yards and a par of 72. Europe has won five of the last eight Solheim Cups, but the United States claimed the 2024 edition 15.5 to 12.5 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.
Anna Nordqvist captains Europe and Angela Stanford captains the United States. For Nordqvist, who is retiring from full-time competitive play, the week doubles as a farewell. The U.S. side includes Nelly Korda, whose 23 career wins are the most on the American roster.
Europe’s rookie class includes England’s Lottie Woad, who enters the week at world No. 8. The teams will play foursomes and four-ball on Friday and Saturday and 12 singles matches on Sunday.
After this week, the 21st Solheim Cup moves to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2028.
