The Amgen Irish Open begins its first round Thursday at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg in County Clare, Ireland.
The field carries a $6 million purse with $1 million going to the winner. Jon Rahm, who won the Irish Open in 2017 and again in 2019, is grouped with Shane Lowry and Patrick Reed for a Thursday afternoon start listed at 1:45 p.m. Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre and Brooks Koepka are grouped together with a listed start of 1:35 p.m.
Several players competing for LIV Golf teams are in the field. Rahm’s two Irish Open victories came at Portstewart in 2017 and Lahinch in 2019, giving the two-time champion a recent record at the event as he returns to Doonbeg.
Doonbeg sits on the Atlantic coast in west Clare, and Thursday’s opening round will put the leading groups on the course through the afternoon. The tournament is part of the DP World Tour schedule, with the winner’s $1 million share coming from the $6 million purse.
Rahm’s 2017 victory came at Portstewart and his 2019 win at Lahinch. This week’s start list places him in the 1:45 p.m. Thursday group with Lowry and Reed, while McIlroy, MacIntyre and Koepka are listed for 1:35 p.m.
