NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Drivers heading downtown in North Augusta this weekend will run into barricades, because streets start closing at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, to make room for the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee.
The list covers parts of six streets: Main Street, Georgia Avenue, Buena Vista Avenue, Clifton Avenue, Spring Grove Avenue and Pine Grove Avenue. On Georgia Avenue, traffic is blocked from Jackson Avenue to Center Street. The closures are set to last until midnight Oct. 25, with the roads reopening Sunday.
The festival itself, now in its 40th year, opens at 10 a.m. Friday and runs through Saturday, and over 100 vendors selling food and crafts are signed up. Christian artist Tauren Wells and country acts Chris Janson and Cody Webb top the music lineup.
Organizers are asking visitors to build in extra travel time, watch for posted signs and stick to the marked detours.
