AIKEN, S.C. — The Aiken Concert Band presents its America at 250 concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Etherredge Center on the University of South Carolina Aiken campus at 340 Scholar Loop.
The program celebrates the nation spirit, heritage and hope with selections that include Armed Forces Salute, Band of Brothers, National Emblem March and Irving Berlin songs for America such as God Bless America.
The nonprofit community band was created to promote musical entertainment in Aiken and the Central Savannah River Area. It performs Etherredge Center concerts during the season and is under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Todd Jenkins.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or at the Etherredge Center box office. More information is listed at aikenconcertband.org.
The band draws dozens of local musicians for each program and has been a fixture of Aiken arts programming for decades, presenting multiple concerts each season including a summer performance at Hopelands Gardens.
America at 250 also features patriotic favorites and American music tied to the national semiquincentennial theme, organizers said in program notes for the Tuesday show.
