Tickets are now on sale for the annual Arts in the Heart of Augusta festival, which is scheduled to take place from September 18-20. This year, the event will be held at the Augusta Fairgrounds, a change from its usual location. The move is due to ongoing construction at the Augusta Common, which will not be finished in time for the festival.
The Greater Augusta Arts Council, which organizes the festival, stated that despite the new venue, attendees can expect the same vibrant celebration of art, music, food, culture, and creativity. The theme for this year’s festival is One Big Festival to Support One Small Non-Profit, highlighting its role as the council’s largest annual fundraiser. Funds raised help sustain the nonprofit’s efforts in supporting artists, public art initiatives, arts education, cultural programming, and various creative opportunities throughout the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).
The executive director of the council, Denise Tucker, expressed excitement for the upcoming festival, noting that while the location is new, the mission to create an inspiring festival experience and raise necessary funds remains constant. The event will feature an entertainment lineup across five stages, including national headliners such as Weedie Braimah & the Hands of Time, Whiskey Run, and Avery*Sunshine. New additions to the Global Village this year include Ghana and Nigeria, further expanding the festival’s international cultural experience. Approximately 120 fine artists are expected to exhibit their work.
Festival badges can be purchased at several locations in Augusta, including all Richmond County tag offices, Augusta & Co., Sacred Heart Cultural Center, 4P Studios, The Treehouse, and Relic Coffee. Aiken residents interested in attending can find ticket information at these locations.
