High school football in the Lowcountry kicks off its second week of the season on Thursday, August 27, with several key matchups. While Aiken County teams are not directly featured in this Lowcountry schedule, fans across South Carolina will be following these early season contests.
Thursday’s games include Stall (0-1) facing Orangeburg-Wilkinson, and eighth-ranked Hanahan (1-0) traveling to Kingstree. Top-ranked James Island (1-0) will host South Florence, while Woodland plays Cross.
The majority of Week 2 action is set for Friday, August 28. A spotlight game will see sixth-ranked Beckham (1-0) take on seventh-ranked Bishop England (1-0). Stratford (0-1) will play Cane Bay (0-1) in another featured contest. Other Friday matchups include Ashley Ridge (0-1) at Rock Hill, second-ranked Summerville (1-0) at Hillcrest, and Fort Dorchester (0-1) at third-ranked Berkeley (1-0).
Additional games on Friday include May River at ninth-ranked Wando (1-0), Goose Creek (0-1) at Crestwood, and Whale Branch at Beaufort (0-1). Fourth-ranked Oceanside Collegiate (0-1) will travel to Cannon in North Carolina. Georgetown (0-1) plays Andrews, Lake City faces Timberland, and Waccamaw (0-1) is at Carvers Bay. Military Magnet (0-1) will play North Charleston (1-0), and Philip Simmons (0-1) is set to play Porter-Gaud (0-1). Hemingway will host Baptist Hill, Burke plays Denmark-Olar, and fifth-ranked Pinewood Prep (2-0) is at Savannah Country Day. Heathwood Hall will visit tenth-ranked Northwood Academy (0-1), St. Andrews plays First Baptist (1-1), Thomas Heyward Academy is at Colleton Prep (2-0), Williamsburg Academy faces Trinity Collegiate, and Lee Academy is at Dorchester Academy (1-0).
