Federal safety notices issued on June 4, 2026, have prompted the recall of smart home devices, specifically Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras and Vornado SRTH small room tower heaters. The Wyze recall affects approximately 321,360 units in the United States, along with around 2,560 units in Canada. The recall stems from incorrect assembly instructions that can lead to puncturing a lithium-ion battery casing, posing significant fire and burn hazards. Wyze has reported 13 incidents of overheating, six explosions or fires, and six minor burn cases in the U.S. associated with these cameras.
In a separate action, Vornado has recalled about 255,000 heaters in the U.S., with a smaller number affected in Canada. The safety concern arises from a fan blade detaching, which can result in overheating, melting, ignition, and fire risk. Vornado has documented 32 overheating incidents, eight fire reports, and one case of smoke inhalation related to the heater’s malfunction.
Consumers who own these devices are instructed to cease usage immediately and follow the respective company’s recall instructions for obtaining refunds, replacements, or proper disposal of the products. The recalls highlight ongoing concerns regarding the safety of household electronics, particularly those utilizing lithium-ion batteries and components that may pose fire risks.
