AIKEN, S.C. — Aiken County voters can cast ballots early for the Nov. 3 general election at any of six centers around the county, with the early voting window running through Oct. 31.
Hours at each center run 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily, but all six sites will be closed on Sunday, Oct. 25. Voters are not tied to one site and may use whichever center is most convenient.
In Aiken, voters can go to the county Voter Registration and Elections Office at 1930 University Parkway, Suite 1200, to the Odell Weeks Activity Center on Whiskey Road, or to Mt. Anna Baptist Church on Banks Mill Road. The other three centers are the North Augusta Community Center on Brookside Avenue, Jackson Town Hall on Main Street, and Lakeside Baptist Church on Jefferson Davis Highway in Clearwater.
Every voter must bring a photo ID. Under state law that can be a passport, a South Carolina driver license, a federal military ID, a state voter registration card with a photo, or another photo ID from the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
The ballot is topped by the governor race between Republican Alan Wilson and Democrat Jermaine Johnson. Locally, five Aiken County seats in the S.C. House are contested, in Districts 81, 82, 83, 84 and 86. The District 86 seat is open because Rep. Bill Taylor did not seek another term.
Voters can check their registration and confirm their precinct at the state election website.
