SCDOT Seeks Public Comment on Lexington County Bridge Project
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is requesting public comments regarding a proposed repair and rehabilitation project for the Interstate 26 bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks in Lexington County.
The project aims to restore the bridge’s structural integrity and load-carrying capacity, with the goal of extending its safe and reliable operation for a minimum of 25 years. Officials indicate that repairs will be conducted under normal traffic operations or through nighttime dual/single lane closures on I-26 to minimize disruptions for commuters.
SCDOT will accept comments on the project until October 15. Residents and drivers can review project maps, ask questions, and submit feedback online through the project portal or by emailing [email protected]. All comments received during this period will be reviewed and included in the project record.
