AIKEN, S.C. — Misty Lake in Aiken County still has no public opening date even as South Carolina’s parks agency soft-opened another former utility retreat elsewhere in the state.
Ramsey Grove State Park in Georgetown began welcoming weekday visitors at the start of October, parks officials said, with hours limited to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on scheduled deer hunting days.
Misty Lake was one of the properties the parks department received from Dominion Energy after the utility’s settlement over unpaid taxes tied to the failed V.C. Summer nuclear project. Pine Island in Lexington County already opened in October 2025.
Agency materials describe Misty Lake as a small day-use style property transferred at the end of 2022, with plans for fishing, picnicking, playground use and eventual rental of a community building, plus a longer-term campground.
Adult admission at Ramsey Grove is $8, with lower rates for seniors and children, and the 2,650-acre Georgetown site offers about 7 miles of hiking trails along the Black River.
For Aiken County residents watching Misty Lake, the Georgetown soft opening underscores that the Dominion-donated park pipeline is moving — but the local site remains without a firm unlock date.
