AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — The National Weather Service released an initial local storm report summary of Saturday tornadoes that tracked through Georgia and South Carolina counties including Aiken, with survey teams still assessing storm strength.

Damage and debris reports came in from Screven, Burke, Allendale, Barnwell and Aiken counties, gathered from 911 centers, trained storm spotters, emergency management and response agencies.

Aiken County Emergency Management reported two downed trees, including one near Quail Run Road, with times estimated from radar data.

Nearby, storm spotters reported a tornado northwest of Barnwell along U.S. 278 with radar-confirmed debris, and other spotter video showed a tornado on the ground near Highway 37 with radar-confirmed debris.

In Allendale County, the South Carolina Emergency Management Division reported three houses with major damage and a fourth destroyed along the 11000 block of Burton Highway, with no injuries reported there.

Separately, National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Gropp in Columbia said the long supercell path that began in Allendale moved through Barnwell and into Aiken County north of Williston, and that about 12 tornado warnings were issued on one thunderstorm into Lexington County.

There were no immediate reports of severe damage or injuries in Aiken County from that track, while Dominion Energy and Aiken Electric Cooperative reported outages across their service areas on Oct. 10.
