Kristoffer Reitan, a 28-year-old golfer, has secured a spot in the PGA TOUR Championship, making him only the second HotelPlanner Tour alumnus to achieve this in a rookie season. This accomplishment was confirmed on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following his performance at the BMW Championship.
Reitan solidified his position by carding a three-under-par 67 on the final day of the BMW Championship in St. Louis, moving him to 22nd place in that event. His consistent play throughout the season has placed him 20th in the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Standings.
During his rookie year on the PGA TOUR, Reitan made the cut in 16 of his 21 starts. He recorded four top-ten finishes, including his maiden victory at the Truist Championship. This win also secured his PGA Tour card through 2027. Two weeks prior to his victory, Reitan finished second at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where he and fellow Norwegian Kris Ventura were one stroke behind English brothers Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick in the season’s only team event.
Reitan’s path to the PGA TOUR began with his promotion to the DP World Tour in 2024, after finishing seventh in the Road to Mallorca Rankings. A key factor in this was his triumph at the Rolex Grand Final supported by the R&A, which propelled him 27 places up the season-long rankings. In 2025, he continued his success with a win at the Soudal Open in May, followed by another victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honor of Gary Player in December, before joining the PGA TOUR at the start of 2026.
Reitan joins Matthieu Pavon, who achieved the same feat in 2024, as the only HotelPlanner Tour alumni to reach the season-ending TOUR Championship in their rookie year. He will compete in the 30-man field in Atlanta alongside other HotelPlanner Tour alumni, including Tommy Fleetwood, Ryan Fox, Robert Macintyre, Justin Rose, and the Fitzpatrick brothers.
