AIKEN, S.C. — Aiken and the rest of the Central Savannah River Area can count on another dry week, with sunny afternoons warming a little each day, according to the National Weather Service office in Columbia.

Monday brings sunshine and a high near 73 with a northeast breeze. Monday night turns calm and mostly clear, with a low around 44.

Forecasters said some normally cold, low-lying spots, mainly north and west of Interstate 20, could dip into the upper 30s Monday night and see patchy frost. They said the risk did not look widespread enough for a frost advisory but would be reviewed again during the day.

After that, the warming trend takes over. Tuesday is forecast to hit about 75, Thursday about 76 and Friday, the warmest day of the week, near 79 under sunny skies. Lows climb into the mid 50s by midweek.

The weather service expects the dry spell to likely last through the end of October. The first real chance of rain arrives Sunday, Nov. 1, when showers carry a 40 percent chance and the high is expected near 77.
