AIKEN, S.C. — Costumed children and their parents filled Citizens Park in Aiken, S.C., on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 24, for the city’s yearly Trunk-or-Treat.

Aiken’s parks and tourism department staged the three-hour party at the Banks Mill Road sports complex known as Citizens Park 1, starting at 3 in the afternoon. Local businesses, clubs and groups dressed up their vehicles and passed out candy, while vendors also handed out treats. Music from a DJ, bounce houses, games and food trucks kept families busy between trunks. Entry cost $1 per child, and the event was aimed at kids 12 and under.

Dez Wilson, a recreation program coordinator for the city, said the gathering brought businesses and residents together and showed off the city’s park facilities.

The city is already looking ahead to the holidays, with a downtown tree lighting and Christmas at Hopeland on the calendar.

More Halloween stops are coming this week. Millbrook Baptist Church on South Aiken Boulevard holds a trunk-or-treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
