AIKEN, S.C. — Community voters in Aiken put SRP Federal Credit Union at the top of two banking categories in the 2026 Best of Aiken honors, naming it Best Bank and Favorite Mortgage Company.

The poll is staged each year by the Aiken Standard. SRP grew out of a 1960 launch tied to the Savannah River Site and now keeps branches around Aiken County and neighboring towns.

Local economic profiles list SRP Federal Credit Union among the county’s top employers by headcount, underscoring why a member-owned lender shows up in a civic popularity contest. The administrative campus is on Edgefield Road in North Augusta.

On its own site, SRP says member-owners are the reason it exists and that it now backs more than 200,000 people with savings, checking, loans and around-the-clock digital access through SRP Online and SRP Mobile. A maintenance window for those digital channels is set for early Oct. 18.

Chief lending officer Kevin Toole credited ambassadors who handle day-to-day banking and mortgages. The Aiken ballots sit alongside other 2026 community prizes the credit union cites in Barnwell County, North Augusta and Augusta-area chamber voting.
