AIKEN, S.C. — Aiken City Council considered a resolution Monday night to rename Aiken Regional Airport after Sen. Lindsey Graham, according to the meeting agenda.

The agenda listed a resolution to rename the Aiken Regional Airport after Senator Lindsey Graham. The council meeting was scheduled for 7 p.m. in the council chambers upstairs in the City of Aiken Municipal Building at 111 Chesterfield Street South.

Aiken City Council acts as the governing body of the city under South Carolina law, setting policies and appropriating funds for city departments with operational supervision by the city manager.

The seven-member council includes a mayor elected at large and six members elected from single-member districts. Council members are not full-time city employees.

Residents could follow a live stream of the meeting on the City of Aiken YouTube channel. The proposal would add Graham name to the regional airport property if adopted.

Airport naming resolutions typically require a formal council vote after the item is introduced on the agenda, and any final action would be recorded in the official meeting minutes.
