# LSU surges, Oregon slips and Michigan hangs on in Week 2 Coaches Poll

Ohio State opened the Week 2 Coaches Poll at No. 1 for a second consecutive week, drawing 50 first-place votes and 1,801 total points in the ballot released Tuesday.

The biggest reshuffle came behind the Buckeyes. LSU climbed five spots to No. 8 after a 51-10 win over Clemson in the marquee matchup of Week 1. Clemson, ranked in the preseason poll, was the only team to drop out entirely. Oregon fell four positions to No. 6 following a 34-27 win over Boise State, receiving only one first-place vote after collecting six in the preseason ballot.

Michigan held on at No. 24 despite dropping eight spots, following a 13-12 win over Western Michigan that ended on a reviewed Hail Mary. The Mid-American Conference asked the College Football Playoff selection committee to reconsider the outcome. The Wolverines meet Oklahoma in Week 2.

Georgia moved to No. 2 with seven first-place votes, followed by Texas at No. 3 with one first-place vote after beating Texas State. Notre Dame rose to No. 4, Indiana climbed to No. 5 with 11 first-place votes, and Miami held at No. 7. Texas A&M dropped one spot to No. 9 and Oklahoma slid to No. 10 to make room for LSU. Ole Miss fell out of the top 10 to No. 11 despite beating Louisville.

The rest of the top 25 listed Alabama at No. 12, Texas Tech No. 13, USC No. 14, BYU No. 15, Penn State No. 16, SMU No. 17 (up three), Tennessee No. 18, Washington No. 19, Utah No. 20, Iowa No. 21, Houston No. 22, Missouri No. 23, and Virginia and Florida tied at No. 25 as new entries.

The biggest movers on either side of the ballot were LSU (up five), Virginia (up seven after a win over NC State with quarterback Beau Pribula), Michigan (down eight) and Oregon (down four). The Week 2 slate features No. 1 Ohio State visiting No. 3 Texas.
