Aiken residents looking for a coastal getaway with exceptional fishing opportunities can find them along South Carolina’s Grand Strand, an area known for its diverse inshore saltwater fishing. The region, which includes areas near Little River, South Carolina, and Calabash, North Carolina, attracts millions annually for its beaches, golf, and dining, but also offers significant adventure in its salt marshes, creeks, and inlets.

The fishing diversity in these waters is notable. Anglers can expect to catch sea trout, flounder, and red drum, with Spanish mackerel also present. During the fall, tarpon migrate into the area, adding another species to the potential catch list. One recent outing demonstrated this variety, yielding sea trout, flounder, red drum, and even shark with minimal movement.

Captain Tim Disano of Tideline Charters, who has decades of experience fishing these waters, emphasizes creating memorable experiences for his clients. He notes the privilege of witnessing milestones, such as clients growing up and continuing to fish with him over many years. Disano adjusts his targets based on the time of year, available forage, tides, and currents. In late summer and early fall, sea trout and red drum are prominent catches, with flounder also on the agenda. South Carolina waters have more relaxed regulations for flounder compared to North Carolina, where the season is limited to two weeks in September.

The overall experience of a day on the water is a key focus for Disano, aiming to provide customers with an unforgettable outing beyond just the fish caught.
