# Chargers Name 10 Captains for 2026 Season

The Los Angeles Chargers announced on September 1, 2026, that ten players will serve as season-long captains for the upcoming season. This group includes four offensive players, five defensive players, and one special teams player, reflecting leadership across all facets of the team.

Among the offensive captains is Joe Alt, a 23-year-old offensive tackle who was also a captain in 2025. Quarterback Justin Herbert, known for his resilience, will also wear the C. First-time captain Ladd McConkey, recognized for his shiftiness and route-running, has taken on a more vocal leadership role. Rashawn Slater, who missed the previous season due to a knee injury, returns as a captain, having previously held the role in 2024.

On the defensive side, Daiyan Henley is a captain for the second consecutive year, noted for his infectious energy and perseverance. Derwin James Jr. is recognized as the heart and soul of the Chargers defense, leading with fiery pregame speeches and intense play. Khalil Mack, a veteran and future Hall of Famer, is also a captain, setting a high standard for the team.
