The New York Giants began filling their practice squad on August 31, 2026, by adding 13 players who were all previously with the team this offseason. This move helps the team build out its roster depth as the NFL season approaches.

Among the players returning to the practice squad are veteran wide receivers Braxton Berrios and Jalin Hyatt. Other additions include defensive lineman Ben Barten, wide receiver Dalen Cambre, fullback Grant Finley, outside linebacker Trace Ford, and offensive lineman Jarrod Gray, who qualifies as an international player. Quarterback Jake Haener, defensive back Raheem Layne, linebacker Chandler Martin, offensive lineman Ryan Schernecke, defensive lineman Josh Tupou, and defensive back JT Woods also joined the squad.

NFL rules allow clubs to have up to 17 players on their practice squad, provided one player is designated as an international player. This strategic move allows the Giants to retain talent and develop players who may be called up to the active roster during the season.
