# Hooters Movie in Development, Filming in Nov.

A feature film titled *Hooters: The Movie* is officially in development, with principal photography scheduled to begin in November. The movie is based on real-life events surrounding the restaurant chain’s founding and will be independently produced by members of the original Hooters founding partners.

The film’s official description details the story of Ted and Lenny, two lifelong friends from a small Iowa town who inadvertently establish a national restaurant empire. Their venture faces threats from the federal government. The narrative begins with Ted’s infatuation with Diane, whom he sees in a spring break commercial. This leads Ted to convince a reluctant Lenny to join him on a road trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida, to find her. Diane later becomes the first Hooters Girl.

Jon Rosenbaum is set to direct the script, which was written by Ed Droste, Phil Olson, and Chuck Melcher.

In other film news, David Fincher’s *The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth*, a follow-up to *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood*, has an official title. Brad Pitt will return as Cliff Booth in the film, which is set in Hollywood in 1977. Quentin Tarantino penned the screenplay. The movie will have an exclusive two-week run in Imax theaters globally starting November 25, before its Netflix debut on December 23. The cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. Pitt and Ceán Chaffin are producing.

The Visual Effects Society Awards has introduced new categories, including Outstanding Visual Effects in a Short Project, Outstanding In-Camera Effects in a Photoreal Project, Outstanding CG Cinematography in a Photoreal Project, and Outstanding CG Cinematography in an Animated Project. The Outstanding Visual Effects in a Short Project category acknowledges the increasing sophistication of social media content and covers both photoreal and animated projects up to 45 minutes in length, including narrative shorts, documentary shorts, music videos, native social media content, and experimental films. The category for Outstanding Special (Practical) Effects in a Photoreal Project has been updated to Outstanding In-Camera Effects in a Photoreal Project, celebrating artistry created through physical, optical, or mechanical techniques captured by a camera, such as pyrotechnics, miniatures, animatronics, special makeup effects, and forced perspective sets. The Visual Effects Society stated that this expanded scope honors the ingenuity of artists whose real-world creations are fundamental to visual effects storytelling. Additionally, Outstanding CG Cinematography has been divided into two distinct categories to recognize animation and photoreal projects separately.

Janus Films is planning to re-release the Isaac Mizrahi documentary *Unzipped*. Directed by Douglas Keeve, the film explores the fashion designer’s life in the 1990s, focusing on his 1994 fall collection. The documentary features appearances by Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eartha Kitt, Kate Moss, Liza Minnelli, Sandra Bernhard, and Richard Gere. Originally released in 1995, *Unzipped* has been digitally restored by the Sundance Institute and UCLA Film & Television Archive. It will premiere on September 25 in New York and October 9 in Los Angeles, with a national rollout to follow.
