US equity futures showed an upward trend pre-bell on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, driven by a rebound in technology-related stocks following a previous session’s selloff. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures increased by 0.5%, S&P 500 futures were up 0.5%, and Nasdaq futures saw a 1% rise.

This market movement occurred as traders processed recent economic announcements and earnings reports. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced new economic sanctions against Iran on Monday, stating that other nations must cease business with Iran or face exclusion from the dollar-based financial system. He did not specify the countries but indicated a compliance timeline.

In corporate news, Bank of Montreal reported higher fiscal third-quarter adjusted earnings and revenue. Intuit is anticipated to release its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings after the market closes, with analysts projecting adjusted earnings of $3.58 per share on revenue of $4.27 billion.

Oil prices experienced a decline, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude falling 2.9% to $87.88 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude dropping 3.1% to $82.37 per barrel.

Several economic data releases were scheduled for Tuesday. The June S&P Case-Shiller home price index was set for release at 9 AM ET. The August consumer confidence index, expected at 10 AM ET, was projected to decrease to 90.2 from 90.8. July new home sales were estimated at an annual rate of 620,000, a reduction from the previous 628,000. The Richmond Federal Reserve manufacturing index for August was also slated for release at 10 AM ET. Federal Reserve Richmond President Thomas Barkin was scheduled to speak at 4 PM ET.

In the equities market, shares of Nvidia, Micron Technology, and Advanced Micro Devices saw increases, with Nvidia rising 1.3%, Micron Technology up 2.2%, and Advanced Micro Devices gaining 3%. Conversely, stocks of Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips declined due to lower oil prices. Exxon Mobil shares fell 1.3%, Chevron stock was down 1%, and ConocoPhillips shares decreased by 1.7%. Dick’s Sporting Goods stock plunged 19% after the company reported lower-than-expected fiscal second-quarter non-GAAP earnings and net sales, and subsequently lowered its fiscal 2026 outlook.

Global markets also showed varied performance. Japan’s Nikkei closed 0.5% higher, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng remained flat, and China’s Shanghai Composite finished 0.2% higher. In Europe, the UK’s FTSE 100 was up 0.1%, and Germany’s DAX index rose 0.8% in the early afternoon session.
