# Aiken Prepares for Full Calendar of September Events

Aiken residents can look forward to a busy September, with numerous community events scheduled throughout the month. Among the highlights is the 41st annual SEED STEM Festival, set to take place on Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. At the Ruth Patrick Science and Education Center on the University of South Carolina Aiken campus. This event offers an opportunity for engagement with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Another significant cultural event is the performance by The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra on Saturday, September 12, at 7 p.m. At the Etherredge Center, also on the campus. This concert will also mark the 40th anniversary of the Etherredge Center Cultural Series, with a VIP reception preceding the performance. Tickets for the reception, which include concert admission, are $100. Concert-only tickets are available for $50 for adults and $45 for seniors, military personnel, and university faculty and staff.

For those interested in local history and community engagement, the Aiken County Historical Society will hold its 2026 fall general meeting on Sunday, September 20, at 3 p.m. At the Aiken County Historical Museum. Linda Johnson will be the guest speaker, discussing the history of The Alley. Additionally, the Aiken Downtown Development Association will host Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 26, from 4-9 p.m. In the Newberry Street Festival Center, featuring craft and German beer, food trucks, and live music.

Other events include the Aiken’s Makin’ Arts & Crafts Show on September 11-12 along Park Avenue, and the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department’s Touch-A-Truck event on September 12 at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center. The Touch-A-Truck event will include a sensory hour from 9-10 a.m. And a Power Wheels Derby for ages 8 and younger. Admission to Touch-A-Truck is free, with a $5 entry fee for the derby.

Throughout September, various recurring activities are also available. The Aiken County Public Library will host a Let’s Talk About It: The Pat Conroy Connoisseur Series, featuring film screenings and book discussions. Bridge games are held Mondays and Wednesdays at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior and Youth Center. The Savannah River Site Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, offering free admission to exhibits on the Savannah River Site and the Cold War. Amp the Alley 2026 continues on Thursdays with live music in downtown Aiken, and 4 Cats in the Doghouse play jazz on Thursdays at The Willcox.
